Shooting in L.A condemned to be the deadliest in modern history

Around 50 people were killed early on Monday, in a shooting at Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas Strip. At least 200 have been hospitalised with suspected gunshot wounds. There was a concert on at the Strip at the time of the shooting. Police who initially reported an active shooter later said one suspect is down.

A Shooting at Las Vegas strip late on Sunday left more than 50 people dead and over 200 wounded. Police swarmed the south end of the Las Vegas strip late on Sunday night (US time) following reports of multiple shots fired from the Mandalay Bay casino where there was a concert under way. The shooter had opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. The Las Vegas hospital said it was taking in several people with gunshot wounds. Video footage circulating on Twitter purportedly of the Mandalay Bay showed a crowd enjoying a concert before what sounds like volleys of automatic gunfire halted the performance. The suspect, who was shooting from the 32nd floor of the hotel, has been killed, say police.

Latest reports from Sheriff Joe Lombardo, Las Vegas police, to the media, has said that the death toll has risen and though they still don’t have an accurate figure, at least 50 have been killed and over 200 injured in the shooting.

Police have identified the shooter as Stephen Paddock, born in 1953. They are still looking for his female companion, a woman of Asian origin, earlier identified as Mary Lou Danley.  The two vehicles they had identified earlier have been located.
