Dubai Police’s rapid rescue action on girl’s Instagram message

A 14-year-old girl sent a text to Dubai Police’s Instagram account to save her from the curse of his mother, who is constantly beating and harassing her without even allowing her to go school. Director of the General Directorate of Human Rights Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr affirmed that instantly upon receiving the appeal via Instagram, specialists of the Department of Protection of Women and Children rushed to the girl’s house where they found her confined inside a room.

Al Murr said that according to Wadima law of Dubai the mother is found guilty but to preserve the family the department didn’t opt for a public prosecution. She was asked to pledge not to repeat what she did and advised her to guide the girl and advise her.

In the Instagram message to the Police, the girl said that due to the repeated beating and harassment by her mother she attempted to commit suicide adding that she is not having a phone to communicate with his schoolmates because of her mother took her phone. She noted she concealed an iPad to contact the police.

Al Hali pointed out that the Department of Child Protection received about 20 special cases in the third quarter of 2017.
