Marathi ‘Charlie’ evokes mixed feeling among the Malayalee viewers

Dulquer Salmaan’s 2015 blockbuster to be released in Marathi, a visual treat for Maharashtra. The trailer, however creates mixed feeling among the Keralites.

Another Malayalam blockbuster movie is remade into a different language.  ‘Charlie’, in addition to being a blockbuster, it garnered 8 awards in the 2016 Kerala State Film Awards. The remake rights of the movie were sold in three different languages- Marathi, Tamil and Bengali.

Recently the Marathi trailer of the movie has been released, creating ample fodder for the movie trollors. The movie titled ‘Deva Chi Maya’, the movie stars Ankush Chaudhari, Tejaswini Pandit and Spruha Joshi in lead roles. The movie is directed by Murali Nallappa.

The movie had its teaser released a few days ago and for sure, it reminds Malayalees of the original film – be it through the beautiful frames, personality of the leading lady and the protagonist. However, trolls have found many things amusing about the teaser, from the looks of the actors to a few of the dialogues.

The one and a half minute trailer has not gone down too well among the Keralites, some calling it a carbon-copy and others it as a dishonor to the Malayalam movie. Whereas some are glad to have other film industries opening up to the Malayalam industry.
