Now, TV debates devolving into screaming matches is common.During a live TV debate on Zee Hindustan about Triple Talaq, Maulana Ejaz Arshad Kajmi came face to face with Farah Faiz, a lawyer who has been one of the leading voices in the campaign against the process.
When Faiz spoke out against the practice of Triple Talaq on the show “Batana Toh Padega”, the Maulana quickly retorted to calling her names.
Faiz said, in the debate, that it is not a form of divorce recognised in Quran. She also stated, “The practice of talaq-e-bidat without proper conciliation violates the basic right of every Muslim woman to live with dignity adding that Muslim women have become victims of gender discrimination in the absence of proper codified rules governing marriage, divorce and maintenance.”

The maulana deemed this demand as anti-Islam and the melee turned uglier when he stood up and started using Hindi expletives against her. When an angry Faiz retorted by slapping him, he lunged at her and landed a few blows on the lawyer.
The two female hosts of the show intervened and other members of the crew pulled the Maulana away. Zee then gave a statement that psychical assault was not acceptable and that they will take legal action against Kajmi.
