Akhilesh Yadav, former UtterPradesh Chief Minister’s statement “no soldier from Gujarat had been martyred” got strong criticism from citizens.
Rajshree, the widow of Mukesh Rathod who sacrificed his life in the 1999 Kargil war, said “Akhilesh’s statement was disappointing. Martyrs don’t belong to any state, they belong to the country. Losing them is a loss of the nation.”
Rajshree was five months’ pregnant when she lost her husband. Today, her son Mrugesh is 17 now. “Only those who have lost their dear one’s can relate to our pain. My son is one among the 13 soldiers from Gujarat who lost their lives in war. Our sorrow is beyond a politician like Akhilesh can understand” said Mukesh’s mother Samjuben Rathod
