UP Minister distributes money at community feast

Uttar Pradesh Minister Swati Singh landed in yet another controversy after she was seen distributing money at a community feast in the state capital on Tuesday.

As per sources, Swati Singh had organised a ‘bhandara’ (community feast) on the occasion of ‘Bada Mangal’ (a local festival celebrated every Tuesday in the Hindu month of Jyeshtha during which temples of Lord Hanuman are decked up).

Swati, a Minister in the Adityanath Cabinet, was seen distributing Rs. 100 notes among the people along with eatables.

The matter came to light when pictures of the minister handing over the money went viral on the social networking sites. State BJP leaders scurried for cover when asked about the matter, though one of them said that it was her “personal matter”.

The minister had recently stirred a huge controversy after she inaugurated a beer bar in the state capital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had taken strong exception to the matter and had reportedly sought an explanation from her.

The Chief Minister was angry with her is evident from a function a few days ago when Swati did not get a place on the dais with Adityanath and was seen sitting among the audience.

Swati came to limelight last year when her husband Daya Shankar Singh had made an objectionable remark against BSP supremo Mayawati and was arrested.

Swati was later made the President of the women’s wing of UP BJP.
