This homeless girl cracked the toughest IAS exam

Ummul Kher was suffering from a rare bone disease when her parents denied her any further education after 8th standard.

This strong willed girl bought her own house in the slum and started earning at the tender age of 14 by taking tuition classes, day and night. Children from nearby slum areas flooded into the study and she took four batched of 2 hours each from 3 pm to 11 pm.” I got between Rs 50-100 from each student. I couldn’t have expected more as these were the children of labourers, iron smith, rickshaw-puller, etc.,” she said. She used her hard-earned money to fund her education.

She taught those kids and studied herself simultaneously while suffering from a rare bone disease as well. She cleared her 12th class with 92% and took admission in Delhi University. She further completed her master’s from JNU. And after 16 fractures and 8 surgeries, here is this 28 years old Ummul Kher, a pretty girl with a wide relaxed smile on her face for she has cracked the UPSC exam in the very first attempt and achieved 420 rank.

She hasn’t informed her parents about this massive success yet, who live in Rajasthan. This woman stayed determined throughout the 14 tough years of life with a disease and no parental support.

Life can throw the worst at you when you expect it the least.
