A massive fire broke in the early hours of Wednesday morning in wood and waste dump area and extended to diesel warehouse in Al Sajjah industrial area. No causalities have been reported during the accident.

Col. Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence said that the fire erupted early morning and just now the civil defence firefighters from Al Sajjah fire station aided by Ajman civil defence worked hard and managed to control the fire from extended to other diesel warehouses in the area.

He said that the fire started at 2.30 am and the fire continued to control it until 9 am. Due to flammable material and speed of the wind, the flames spread quickly but the fighters made great efforts to prevent it from extending the rest of the area.

He said that the operation room received a call at 2 am and immediately dispatched all the fire stations to reach the site on short time. The firefighters reached there in five minutes.

The cooling operation has just started and after its completion will be handed over to the police for an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
