Car crash kills woman and daughter in UAE

A 32-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter were killed in a car crash in Ras Al Khaimah after their car hit a concrete barrier and fell into a valley, Ras Al Khaimah Police said on Saturday.

A 29-year-old man, the father of the family, is fighting for his life as he received serious injuries. Police said he was driving the car during the incident.

Brigadier Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Humaidi, Director General of the Central operations of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said police received a call on Friday at around 6pm to report an accident in Asafni valley.

Police patrols and paramedics moved to the scene of the accident where the Asian mother and her daughter were pronounced dead while the father was moved to the nearest hospital for treatment. His condition is described to be critical.

Brigadier Al Humaidi said initial investigations indicated that the driver was driving at a high speed and he was exhausted, and hit a concrete barrier and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and fall down into the valley.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to a hospital morgue and will be handed over to their relatives for burial.

A case file has been transferred to relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Brig. Al Humaidi urged all motorists to abide by traffic laws and to avoid driving when tired.
