Actor Lena shares memories of her Onam during childhood

Actor Lena, who has given memorable performances in films like Traffic, Spirit, Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Ennu Ninte Moideen to name a few.

Lena shares her memories of the Onam she used to have during her childhood days, where she used to celebrate Onam with her parents and grandparents at their ancestral home.

Lena being a native of Thrissur, says the place Kuttankulangara, where her ancestral home is is famous for the Onam celebrations.

She says as soon as her school closes for Onam holiday she and her family used to go to Kuttankulangara, where they witness the celebrations there.

She still remembers how the greenery of fields used to welcome them when they come.

They made athapookalams with the flowers they get, such that for the first day of Onam, ,Chingam, Attham, they make one athapookalam, and goes until the tenth thiruvonam day, where they make a total of ten athapookalams.

For sadya, they used to make traditional sadya with all 24 dishes and 3 payasams.

The main attraction for Onam was the Pulikali where hundreds of men dance with body painted with tiger stripes and leopard spots, which was the main sport /event during Onam at Thrissur.

Lena says she used to that such celebrations with awe, and such things made a really good impression of Onam.

She still loves to be with her family at her ancestral home for Onam and says that since she is busy with her movie commitments, she finds it hard to make time to be with them for Onam.
