Kerala is turning into major hub of child pornography, shocking survey reports

India is turning into a major hub of child pornography, and Kerala is at the heart of it.

More than 35 per cent of the porn uploaded in the country daily is child abuse content, despite the crackdown, according to reports. “Schoolgirls”, “teens” and “desi girls” are among the most searched keywords which lead the users to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Kerala is the biggest contributor of child porn content among Indian states, while the likes of Delhi, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Assam are high in viewing it.

Cyber pundits pointed out that most of the child porn content is shot on mobile devices. The rising popularity of smartphones in recent years makes child abuse being documented and distributed more. Underage children fall easy prey to dating sites and messenger apps, where they share their compromising photos, which are often circulated online and uploaded on porn sites.

Every 40 minutes a new porn video is created in India, reported Mail Today, quoting cyber security experts. Kerala tops the list in uploading such content, while Haryana leads in viewing it.
“Several porn websites are flooded with child content. There is a massive demand for Indian content in the global market as it is much cheaper for them to buy,” the report quoted Pawan Duggal, a lawyer and an IT expert.

It has also emerged that tier 2, 3 and 4 cities are the biggest contributors of CSAM. Children, especially school students, in rural areas and underprivileged background are the easy targets.

The consumption of pornographic content, in general, has also increased steadily in recent years. Nearly, 30 to 40 per cent of the Internet content searched and downloaded daily in India is pornography, and this amounts to several thousand terabytes.
