A 26-year-old woman allegedly conspired with her lover to kill her husband on the night of September 12 in Devla village in Greater Noida.
The victim, 32-year-old Veerendra, was shot dead while he was sleeping.
Police arrested Kapil, the woman’s lover, and his friend Aakash, who on September 12 entered the couple’s home and allegedly shot Veerendra.
According to police, the woman, Ramesh, was married to Veerendra, and moved to Devla village six years ago. “She was having an extramarital affair with Kapil ever since they moved to Devla. Veerendra came to know about her affair with Kapil, due to which both husband and wife quarreled most of the times,” said Suniti, Superintendent of Police (Rural).
Since Veerendra had become a hindrance to their relationship, Ramesh conspired with Kapil to kill him. “The planning to eliminate Veerendra was going on since past four months,” the police officer said.
“Kapil then enlisted the help of Aakash, a Jarcha resident, to kill Veerendra,” police added.
The two were let into the house by Ramesh around midnight. Aakash shot Veerendra using a countrymade pistol, and the duo fled after the crime. Ramesh then raised an alarm, claiming that unknown assailants had attacked her husband.
“Victim’s brother, Rajveer, raised his suspicion on Kapil behind his brother’s murder. Our preliminary investigation in the matter revealed involvement of his wife into the murder. On Sunday evening, we arrested Kapil and Aakash from Tilpata roundabout in Greater Noida. On questioning the accused, they confessed their crime,” said SP Suniti.
Both the accused were produced before the district court in Surajpur, from where they were sent to jail. “Veerendra’s wife will be arrested soon,” police said.
