Modi government to launch Mudra promotion campaigns on pan-India basis

The Union Finance ministry to launch a Mudra Promotion Campaign on national basis from September 27 to October 17 in different parts of the country.

The campaign will be held at various places including at Patna, Shimla, Chandigarh, Chennai, Srinagar, Indore, Ludhiana, Meerut Johdpur, Bhuvaneshwar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Daman, Nagpur, Panaji, Rajkot, Shillong, Bhopal, Kavaratti, Kolkata, Silvasa, Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Aizawl, Salem, Hubli, Thiruvanantpuram, Puducherry, Jaipur, Ranchi, New Delhi, Faridabad, Gorakhpur, Jammu, Jamnagar, Mangalore, Gangtok, Pune, Imphal, Kohima, Port Blair and Itanagar.

According to an official release, the campaign will start on September 27 in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will be participating in the function organised on this occasion.

Total 50 such Mudra Promotion Campaigns will be organised in different parts of the country where the Union Ministers will be participating among others. Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, is organising the campaign.

Mudra has been formed with the primary objective of developing the micro enterprise sector in the country by extending various support including financial support in the form of refinance, so as to achieve the goal of “funding the unfunded”. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on  April 8, 2015.

As part of its promotion campaign, a similar function being organised on October 2 at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will be participating in that programme. On the same day, functions will also be held at Dehradun, Uttarakhand and Guwahati, Assam where Union Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta and Minister for State for Railways Rajen Gohain will participate.

On October 3, three events are being organised in different parts of the country. One such campaign will be held at Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh where the Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will be participating.

In Raipur, Minister of State for Steel Vishnu Deo Sai will be participating. A third function will be held at Agartala, Tripur where Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Jaswantsinh Sumanbhai Bhabhor will be participating.

State Level Banking Committee (SLBC) of different states will actively participate and coordinate all the campaigns.
