Trouble brewing for Imran Khan as he is unable to produce proof of transaction

Imran Khan looks like he could use a break especially since he has been caught by Pakistan’s courts for illegal assets case. Pakistan’s ministry of Interior Talal Choudry, has revealed that the minister has been disqualified for evading taxes, misdeclaration of assets and laundering money.

In the light of such mystery surrounding his assets, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has decided to declare his candidature null and void. It has also started criminal proceedings for tax evasion. Imran for years did not declare his flat in London to tax authorities and only declared it through a scheme for converting black money to legitimate funds. Talal Choudry also said that Imran did not want the case to be snowballed, into something big. His illegal assets case should only be viewed as “an innocent omission and a mistake”

The Supreme Court wants to view the source of income on his Bani Gala property. Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Bokhari said that the money was gifted by Imran’s wife for buying the property and that the money was later returned to her. However when the court asked Imran for proof of transaction, he only had an e-mail sent from his ex-wife to show, he could not produce any real bank documents as proof. The court adjourned the hearing for October 3.
