Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visits Ayodhya today, ahead of Diwali to attend the grand celebrations that have been planned in the temple town.
The CM is scheduled to watch a Ramleela later this evening. The performance, planned at the banks of the Sarayu River, will also feature lasers.
The city is attempting to set a Guinness World Record by lighting 1.71 earthen lamps with 11,000 liters of sesame oil and 850 kg of camphor.
The day will begin with Mokshadayani walk from Kanchan Bhavan and meander along 10 different spots to culminate at Nageshwarnath temple. By noon, the focus will shift to Saket PG College where the carnival of Ram Barat would begin. The procession includes 11 tableux depicting scenes from the Ramayan and artist groups from 22 states and three regions in UP will commemorate the return of Ram to Ayodhya.
The procession would culminate at Ramkatha park where ‘Ram and Sita’ will make an appearance. Special invitees are likely to include Governor Ram Naik and chief minister Yogi Adityanath will welcome them. The CM would also lay foundation of projects worth Rs 133 crore sanctioned by Union government under Swadesh Darshan scheme.
The dignitaries will proceed to Ram Ki Paidi where over 2,500 volunteers from Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Shree Saryu Avadh Balak Sewa Samiti and Sanskrit vidyalayas and other schools would attempt to create a Guinness record by lighting maximum number of oil lamps. In the presence of team from the Guinness record team, the volunteers will light over 2 lakh earthen lamps using 11,000 litre sesame oil and 850kg of camphor.
The record bid will also mark a celebration of Ram’s homecoming and will be followed by a grand lazer show. A Saryu aarti on the lines of Varanasi’s Ganga Aarti will be performed by the dignitaries here. Ramkatha Park will be the point of culmination. Excerpts from Ramayan will be staged in unique Ramlila presentations by troupes of artists from Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Salempur (Gorakhpur).
This is our attempt to boost religious and spiritual tourism in UP. Diwali finds its origin in Ayodhya but that fact has to be presented in an attractive way to draw tourists. The Ram Rajyaabhishek will give tourists a reason to come to Ayodhya and sustained efforts would brand Diwali in Ayodhya the way people know about Holi in Barsana.
