Fitness fever strikes Dubai, Crown Prince of Dubai launches the initative

Dubai is struck with a fitness fever that has its citizens trying out various new sports and exercises keeping themselves in vigorous condition.

The 30-day Dubai Fitness Challenge which kick-started on October 20 has captivated Dubai government officials, residents and visitors alike. And, the latest government official to be smitten by the fitness fever is Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. A video of the minister working out was uploaded on YouTube by the ministry on the 22nd of October.

 

The Dubai minister also thanked Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, for launching the initiative and encouraging Dubai residents to stay fit and active.

The opening week of the fitness challenge, which runs from October 20 to November 18, was a huge success which witnessed more than 25,000 fitness enthusiasts trying over 40 different sports and group exercises at the Safa Park on Friday. The two-hour Yogathon, hosted by YogaFest Dubai, was also a hit drawing more than 1,000 Yoga enthusiasts.

 Some of the sports included American football, basketball, boxing, cricket, golf; plyometrics box vertical jump, strength training, suspension training, touch rugby and volleyball.
