Protests mounting up over celebrating Deen Dhayal centenary in schools

A circular forwarded to schools instructing them to celebrate the birth centenary of RSS ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay has triggered protest in Kerala. The Director of Public Instruction(DPI) of Kerala issued the circular forwarded by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) on Tuesday. Although, he is not even a freedom fighter allegations are mounting up over the centenary celebration. Protests hit backed at LDF government for acting in favor to Sangh Parivar’s agenda of poisoning young minds by rewriting history in school and college levels.

The circular instincts every school of the state should celebrate with various programmes as a part of the birth centenary celebration. It also lists the various programmes to be conducted at upper primary and secondary levels. The suggested list of programmes includes fancy dress, poem recitation, singing patriotic songs and storytelling for upper primary students. Also the secondary level, students have been suggested to prepare write-ups on various Deen Dayal Upadhyaya schemes or hold discussions about the abolition of the Zamindari Act.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay was born on September 25, 1916. The Director Of Public Instruction had forwarded the circular to all school principals after consulting with the Kerala State Government and Education Minister Prof. C Raveendranath. Meanwhile, the Kerala Students Union has started statewide protests against this new move.
