The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the granting of Saudi citizenship to Sophia, a humanoid artificially intelligent robot by Hanson Robotics. The announcement was made at the Future Investment Initiative conference. After receiving the citizenship Sophia said she was honored to receive her citizenship. This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship, she said.
Sophia is designed to look like Audrey Hepburn, a British actress, and dancer. It’s the robot which is the closest to have a human appearance. The AI robot embodied with porcelain skin, a slender nose, high cheekbones, an intriguing smile, and deeply expressive eyes that seem to change color with the light. She has also become a media darling, having given numerous interviews to multiple media outlets, sang in a concert, and even graced the cover of one of the top fashion magazines.
After receiving her citizenship, she was interviewed by Andrew Ross Sorkin in Riyadh. During the course of her interview, she took a dig at Later she talked about Elon Musk, an American business magnate and Hollywood movies for portraying the artificial intelligence in a questionable light.
