5 transgenders arrested for trying to rob Uber driver in Kerala

A gang of transgenders was arrested after they tried to rob a Uber taxi driver. The incident happened at the high court junction Kochi at around 2:30 in the morning.

In connection with the incident, police, on Friday, arrested Pathanamthitta native Bhoomika, Vytila natives Shruthi, Sonakshi, Chengannur native Arunima, and Neyyattinkara native Niya. Search is on for two more persons.

The driver was waiting for customers and was attending a phone call related to the service to be provided. Suddenly, the transgender gang appeared near the side window of the car and banged at the glass. When he downed the glass, they tried to snatch his phone and money. Coming under the grip of fear, the driver opened the door and ran out. Luckily a police jeep came that way when he waved the jeep down. He narrated what had happened.

The police team led by Central CI Ananthalal and SI Aby arrested the transgenders. Assistant Commissioner Lalji said that there were several complaints against them.
