Suspected terror links: youngster arrested in Mumbai Airport

Police arrested a young man on suspicion of plotting terrorist links. The suspect was a native of Azamgarh named as Abu Zaid. The arrest was made by Uttar Pradesh Police from Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport in Mumbai on Saturday night. The ATS had issued a look-out notice against Zaid, who is a native of Ghambirpur, Azamgarh in East Uttar Pradesh.

Abu Zaid was returning from Saudi Arabia. The Anti-Terrorist Squad from UP was secretly following Zaid’s activities and in the light of certain doubts, he has been taken into custody.

According to the ATS, Zaid, who was living in Saudi Arabia, induced and mobilized members in India for a terror module.

Zaid’s name came to light during an investigation of the four youths who were arrested in a preemptive operation from different parts of the country in April.

“Solid evidence” of Zaid’s culpability in organizing members for terror activities was “found from the mobiles of the arrested persons,” the ATS spokesperson said. Zaid will now face charges under Sections 120 B, 121A, 153, 123 and 122B of the IPC and Section 18 of the UA(P)A along with the other four.
