A follow up of the Malayalam abduction case

The well-known abduction case of Malayalam actress and the suspects are once again in the limelight. Here’s a follow up on the case.

Actor Dileep and his brother, Anoop were summoned to the police club in Aluva, Ernakulam, on Wednesday and questioned separately, with regard to the abduction and molestation of the Malayali actress. Dileep was questioned for more than two hours, and Anoop was held for an hour.

According to senior officers, this was done, in order to get clarity on various shreds of evidence. “After the arrest and remand of the accused, we never got the chance to speak with the accused. The investigation progressed quite a lot after the incidents and many evidence were collected in the meantime. The interrogation on Wednesday was to get clarity on these,” said an officer.

As Anoop had been questioned, an officer hinted that they were looking into the possibility of a witness being influenced.

A senior officer said that three major clarifications were sought in the investigation. They are yet to file a charge sheet in the case.

Dileep was accused of hatching a plot with Pulsar Suni and his associates to abduct and assault the Malayalam actress in a moving car, on February 17, this year. He was arrested on July 10, owing to his alleged involvement in the case. He was also expelled from the primary membership of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on July 11. After a series of failed pleas, he was finally granted bail on October 3.

On November 3, he sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case.

A team led by CI Byju Paulose has been interrogating actor Dileep since 10 am at the Aluva Police Club. The interrogation comes at a time when the Special Investigation Team is set to file a fresh charge sheet to the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
