Closely monitor progress in rural areas, Quick solution for complaints : Modi in Review meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed officials to ensure efficient monitoring of construction of rural roads and also for quick resolution of complaints received through the ‘Meri Sadak’ application.

Modi took a review meeting on the progress in infrastructure sectors including rural housing, rural roads, coal, mining and rural electrification on Thursday evening, which lasted for more than two and a half hours.

Under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana, 81% of the targeted habitations of about 1.45 lakh have so far been connected. “Officials said progress is being made towards connecting remaining unconnected habitations within a time-frame.

The PM observed that resources available for this work should be used optimally throughout the year,” an official PMO statement said, adding t hat the PM hoped the advancement of the Budget would lead to further improvement in performance.

Sources said Modi has also pushed for new technologies in road construction. The highest-ever construction of 130 km rural roads per day has been achieved under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and this has led to an addition of 47,400 km of PMGSY roads in 2016-17.
