When villains becomes heroes!!!!

Remember ??? when you went to watch a movie and liked the villain more than the hero? You were surprised at first but gradually reassured by the overwhelming numbers of people who also thought like you did.

what sets the villains apart from the rest is their acting and the depth of their characters. It is a very rare occurrence that bad guy of the movie makes a space in our mind for quite a long time. Take a look where the villains were far better than the heroes.

Saif in “Omkara”

‘Omkara’ is a classic of international standards and the character of Langda Tyagi played by Saif Ali Khan overshadowed the hero. The character of Langda Tyagi is also special as it was written to match the iconic status of Gabbar Singh. So let’s face it,there’s only one name that you took back home from the theatre after watching ‘Omkara’ and, you know that it’s Langda Tyagi.

SRK in “Darr”

Shah Rukh Khan is always known for his romance and people love watching him play the role of a romantic hero. He did something different in this movie, and he was the villain in ‘Darr’. This decision of his didn’t affect the love and attention he got, and his role overshadowed the hero in the film. The way he acted is beyond words. He created fear in everyone’s mind through this character. This was Shah Rukh’s first movie where he played a negative character.

Priyanka Chopra in “Aitraaz”

‘Aitraaz’ was a romantic thriller film. It was one of Priyanka Chopra’s best performances so far as she played a bad-ass villain in the film. The story revolves around Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra’s love story and how Peecee wants to be with Akshay Kumar. She even promotes him as the CEO of her company. Priyanka Chopra won many awards for her marvelous performance in the film.

Aamir Khan in “Dhoom 3”

Aamir Khan stepped out of his comfort zone to essay a negative role in ‘Dhoom 3’. Aamir pulled off a double role in the movie. The twin brothers rob a bank and have an adventurous ride as well as portray some amazing magic tricks as their father was a magician.

Amjad khan in “Sholay”

‘Sholay’ features a powerful story, direction, drama and action and left everyone speechless. It was a real cinematic masterpiece where the antagonist of the film Gabbar Singh overshadows the heroes. Gabbar, who had some of the most memorable names in his gang- Sambha and Kaaliya, enjoys chewing tobacco. Gabbar Singh had some of the most immortal lines like- “Jo darr gaya, samjho marr gaya” and “Kitne Aadmi Thhe.

Kajol in “Gupt”

One of Kajol’s most iconic negative roles has been in ‘Gupt’ opposite Bobby Deol for which she also won the Filmfare Award for best actor in a negative role. The mystery of who actually killed Jaisingh Sinha in ‘Gupt’ sustained itself throughout the film. There were a few red herrings sprinkled in as well. Is it a political angle, a property dispute or is it actually someone who is close to Sahil? The film kept audiences guessing all along. Spoiler alert: It was Kajol! Even if one hadn’t watched the film, the big reveal of Kajol as the big bad one has been firmly woven into Hindi film pop culture over the years.

Hrithik Roshan in” Dhoom 2″

In the ‘Dhoom’ series, the second installment featuring Hrithik as the baddie has arguably been the best. Hrithik Roshan did complete justice to his role as an intelligent robber, who could pull off several disguises and scoot with valuables in spectacular ways. Hrithik’s stunts and dance moves were a delight to watch as was his crackling chemistry with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Manoj Bajpayee in “Satya”

Seventeen years ago, it was the role of gangster Bhiku Mhatre which proved be Manoj’s claim to fame. The actor bagged accolades for his performance and the rest is history. The film revolved around and was named after the lead character Satya. Manoj Bajpyee bagged several awards for this film.

Ritesh Deshmukh in” Ek Villain”

The antagonist of ‘Ek Villain’, Rakesh Mahadkar, played by Riteish Deshmukh clearly stole the show. He plays a character who directs his frustration at unsuspecting women whom he picks out randomly in the course of his professional expeditions. His performance explains the darkest side of a quiet common man who goes to the extreme level after being continually nagged by his wife. Riteish Deshmukh totally nailed this negative part that he played.

Vivek Oberoi in ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’

Vivek Oberoi was excellent in ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’. He was portrayed as the dreaded gangster Maya Dolas and has been critically appreciated by the critics as well as the audience. Whenever Vivek has played a realistic character, the talented actor has pulled it off effortlessly. ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’ was the story of the upcoming underworld gangster, Maya, and his highly skilled partner, Dilip. The two made extortion the buzzword in the early 90s and dared to disobey the big bhai of the underworld, Dawood Ibrahim.
