A man committed suicide after killing his pregnant wife by hacking her with an axe.

A man committed suicide after killing his wife by hacking her with an axe at Yemmiganuru in Kurnool district on Saturday. Katika Basha (27) suspecting his wife Katika Parveen (24) of infidelity and attacked her in an inebriated condition. Parveen was into her third month pregnancy.

Basha (27) works as a daily wage labourer. He married to Parveen four years ago and they were having a three year old daughter. Their marriage was going through a rough patch from the past six months as Basha started suspecting Parveen of having an affair with someone else. They used to have frequent quarrels between them and Parveen left to her parent’s house about a week ago.

Basha came to know that Parveen was pregnant again after she left home. He went to his in-laws house at around 12 in the midnight. He had an argument with his wife and attacked her with an axe in inebriated condition. She was shifted to government hospital in Yemmiganur first and later to Kurnool.

After attacking Parveen Basha came back home and hanged self in his house. Police after registering the case went to his house and found him dead. Parveen succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment on Saturday afternoon. Yemmiganur inspector G Prasad registered a case investigating the matter.
