Chinese military protests “intrusion” of an Indian drone

An Indian drone has “invaded” China’s airspace and crashed.

“The Indian move violated China’s territorial sovereignty. We strongly express our dissatisfaction and opposition,” the deputy director of the army’s western theatre combat bureau, Zhang Shuili, said.
“We will fulfill our mission and responsibility and defend China’s national sovereignty and security resolutely,” he said.

Zhang did not give details about when or where the incident happened. The People’s Liberation Army’s western theatre command’s jurisdiction include Tibet’s border region with India.

The two countries saw relations worsen this summer when they became locked in a dispute over a Himalayan plateau. China and Bhutan have competing claims on the plateau, and India supports Bhutan’s claim. The two nations fought a bitter war over the border in 1962, and disputes remain unresolved in several areas which cause tensions to rise periodically.
