Good news for Shopaholic: duty-free shops now accepts Indian Rupees

A great relief for passengers. They will no longer have to rush for duty-free Shops currency conversion complications. Now passengers can pay Indian rupees. The government on Tuesday ordered that sales of duty-free shops at Indian airports be carried out in rupees and not in foreign currency.

“In view of the Foreign Trade Order 2017 and clarification of RBI, it has been decided to extend the facility of payments in Indian rupees, through INR debit cards or credit cards at duty-free shops, without any need for conversion of foreign currency into Indian rupees,” the order said.

This will be a great relief for common people, and the order also tells shops that they should mandatorily display the price of all goods in Indian rupees too.
