Important warning from UAE police for keeping wallets
Sharjah issues some warnings in the Police awareness campaign, ‘Pay attention – Don’t fall victim to theft’, launched to check the spate of thefts that has rocked the emirate.
“Don’t keep wallet in the back pocket of your trousers. Avoid showing money withdrawn from ATM or bank to a stranger even if he/she insists to see it on some pretext. Don’t trust anyone who pretends to mend your snag-hit car. If someone spits or sneezes on your dress, don’t get distracted or you could be robbed.”
Colonel Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajill, director of the criminal investigation department at the Sharjah Police, said the campaign is part of the police’s commitment to implement the vision and mission of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to enhance security and safety to make the UAE the safest country in the world. It is also aimed at strengthening bond and trust between the police and the society.
Col Al Ajill added that the ongoing drive is a way to make people aware about the precautionary measures that can prevent crimes. “The campaign educates residents to take preventive steps to protect their property from thefts.
Al Ajill pointed out that the campaign includes various awareness activities, including distributing brochures to the public in three languages – Arabic, English and Urdu – that guide people on how to keep themselves safe against dangers of theft.
The campaign also urges public to inform the police immediately in case of suspicious activities around banks and ATM outlets. Residents of Sharjah can call 999, and 901 for non-emergencies and 065943210 to report crimes or any kind of illegal activities.
