Abu Dhabi: rule-breaker leads to the injury of 7 people

Seven people were injured in a nine-vehicle pile-up in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

According to a release issued, the accident has been blamed on motorists, who failed to maintain adequate distance between their cars.

The pileup, involving nine motor vehicles, happened at the intersection of the Corniche Street and Rashid bin Saeed Street in the capital.

The injured were shifted to Shaikh Khalifa Medical City for treatment.

Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Saeedan Al Mansouri, Director of Serious Accidents Investigation Section of Abu Dhabi Police, attributed the mishap to motorists’ failure to keep a safe distance between their cars and getting distracted instead of focusing on the road, according to initial investigations.

Al Mansouri called upon motorists to maintain sufficient distance between vehicles and adhere to safe driving rules to avoid traffic accidents, and preserve their lives and the lives of road users.
