Addressing the first PIO parliamentarian Conference during Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2018 PM Narendra Modi said that India is not eyeing anyone’s territory and India doesn’t view its relationship with others based on profit or loss but rather based on humanity. He also suggested that Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy is the only way to counter extremism and radicalisation.

He said,”We neither have the intention of exploiting anyone’s resources nor are we eyeing anyone’s territory. Our focus has always been on capacity building and resource development.”

These comments come in the wake of increased tension in the India China border. He also stated that India always had a constructive role in the world arena.

stressing the importance of Mahatma’s philosophy he stated “At a time when the world is divided by ideologies, India believes in the mantra of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’,” he said. When concerns over extremism and radicalisation in the world are increasing, India’s message of inclusiveness can go out to the world, he told the parliamentarians. “If there is any philosophy to counter radicalisation and extremism, it is the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and the philosophy of Indian values,” he said.

He said that 21 st century is viewed as Asian century and with its culture and tradition India can move forward a lot.

He also claimed that most of the foreign investment to India came only within last three years and its because of the policies adopted by his government.

“India is changing, India is transforming. India has moved far ahead and Indian hopes are at the top and you will see the result of change in every sphere. A record USD 16 billion dollar FDI came into the country last year,” he said.
