Facebook News Feed to revamp; CEO’s bigger goals for 2018

Facebook is one of the basic social media pages that a person has in the present society, particularly the youths.

Facebook is making a big overhaul to its News Feed that might change the way you use the social platform. The company will be changing the way how the news feed works and you will see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. Zuckerberg stressed that the changes: “can be good for our well-being.” Talking about a research, he said: “research that shows when we use social media to connect with people we care about, it can be good for our well-being.” You can read his entire post below.

Talking about the changes to News Feed, Facebook’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said, “Facebook has always been about personal connections. By focusing on bringing people closer together — whether it’s with family and friends, or around important moments in the world — we can help make sure that Facebook is time well spent.”

Zuckerberg talked about the changes to News Feed in a Facebook post and wrote, “One of our big focus areas for 2018 is making sure the time we all spend on Facebook is time well spent.”

In his post, Zuckerberg stressed that the social platform was developed to help people stay connected and bring them closer together with the people that matter. “We’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content — posts from businesses, brands and media — is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other. It’s easy to understand how we got here. Video and other public content have exploded on Facebook in the past couple of years. Since there’s more public content than posts from your friends and family, the balance of what’s in News Feed has shifted away from the most important thing Facebook can do — help us connect with each other,” he added.

Based on the feedback, Zuckerberg says there are major changes coming to Facebook News Feed. He talked about how Facebook started making changes in this direction from last year. Zuckerberg confirmed that the new change is part of more necessary changes.

“The first changes you’ll see will be in News Feed, where you can expect to see more from your friends, family, and groups,” he wrote.

With the new changes rolling out, Facebook says that users will see less public content from businesses, brands, and media while there will be more posts from family and friends.

Zuckerberg also talked about the after-effects of the changes in News Feed. “Now, I want to be clear: by making these changes, I expect the time people spend on Facebook and some measures of engagement will go down. But I also expect the time you do spend on Facebook will be more valuable. And if we do the right thing, I believe that will be good for our community and our business over the long term too,” Zuckerberg explained.
