Government officials booked for molesting woman

Women are always preyed upon by the opposite sex. But is it the men’s fault always? Do women approach men with ulterior motives?

The Pantnagar police have booked two Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officers on Tuesday evening for molesting a 35-year-old woman in Ghatkopar. The police have also lodged a cross First Information Report against the woman for deterring public servant from discharging his duties.

Yogesh Tivarekar and Sandesh Pendharkar, BMC officials from ‘N’ ward office at Ghatkopar have been booked by the police on the complaint filed by Sonali Teravnakar, a Right to Information(RTI) activist.

While the two officials have been booked for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty (Section 354) of the Indian Penal Code, the woman has been booked for assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty (Section 353), intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace (Section 504) and criminal intimidation(Section 506) of the Indian Penal Code.
