As Modi-Trump bonhomie getting stronger with each passing day, Pakistan becomes more isolated in the subcontinent

The Whitehouse on Thursday reported that US president Donald Trump spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a number of world issues. It is reported that they have spoken on matters regarding the tense situation prevailing in the Maldives.

Apart from this they also spoke on a wide range of issues regarding security. They discussed Afghan war, the situation of Myanmar’s Rohingya refugees and North Korea`s nuclear program.They also decided to continue working together to enhance security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, the official statement said.

India and US are cozying up lately especially after the US stopped their 2 billion aid to Pakistan. It further plans to freeze more economic aid to the country. This comes as a result of Pakistan’s inability to curb terrorism in the country.

Meanwhile, India is keenly observing the tense situation in the Maldives and has expressed concern over the arrest of Supreme court chief Justice and other tall political leaders in the Maldives. Both the world leaders have also spoken about this matter extensively.

White House said that Prime Minister Modi and President Trump also restated their commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s security and stability, a move that reaffirms President Trump’s South Asia strategy.
