Activists of RSS wrote a letter to Aligarh Muslim University to organize ‘Shakha’ in campus

Activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have written a letter to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) vice-chancellor Tariq Mansoor for the approval to organize ‘shakha’ inside the campus to amend the misconception about the right-wing outfit among students of the minority community. In the letter, they have mentioned that it was significant for them to familiarize students with the outfit’s real ideology.

RSS activist Mohammad Ameer Rashid said in the letter, “There is a dire need for the students to know the truth about the RSS. Many students are giving baseless statements against the organization and spreading misinformation. RSS is fully dedicated to nation’s service, and works without religious discrimination”.

“Misconceptions about the RSS among AMU students will dissipate once ‘shakhas’ start in the campus,” the letter said.

When contacted, Aligarh Muslim University Students Union president Mashkoor Ahmad Usmani spelt specificity that, “It is an educational institute, not a political hub. We will oppose this move. RSS’s ideology is to divide the nation and they will not be allowed to enter the campus. If required, students will fight for it.”

Member in-charge of public relation of the university, Shafey Kidwai, said that he was not aware of the matter. “If some application has been given by them, the VC will take a decision,” he said. BJP MLA, Aligarh, Dalveer Singh said that there is no harm to conduct Shakhas in the campus but will anyone attend it, as the residents there are “narrow-minded”
