Karnataka’s political tussle in Supreme Court continues

In a packed courtroom, the political tussle for Karnataka government continues in the Supreme Court.

Rejecting the BJP request for more time, the Apex Court has ordered for the Karnataka floor test will take place at 04:00 PM tomorrow, by which BS Yeddyurappa has to prove his majority.

ASG Thushar Mehta cited that the Congress-JD(S) letter did not contain all the signatures and that the letter was only signed by the party leader. 

Supreme Court said that it has to uphold the law.

Mukul Rohatgi is against the idea of an immediate floor test, he seeks a week’s time.

Congress has affirmed that it is ready for the floor test tomorrow. Justice Sikri has said that either choose the law to be settled or let the floor test take place tomorrow; the floor test is a practical option.

SC proposes Karnataka floor test tomorrow. Singhvi added that the floor test is inevitable.

The Apex Court has placed 2 options before the BJP lawyer.

Justice Sikri has questioned on what grounds the Governor had called on BS Yeddyurappa to form the government, to which Rohatgi replied that is the discretion of the Governor. 

The Supreme Court has decided to hear Congress’ plea against Govorner Vala’s decision. Congress argued that they gave the letter with proven major. 

BJP lawyer, Mukul Rohatgi, has submitted BS Yeddyurappa’s letter of support before the Apex Court, citing that the newly-formed alliance between the Congress and the JD(S) is “unholy”, and that neither of them had crossed 100 seats. He asserted that the BJP is the single largest party. He has mentioned the Sarkaria commission.
