This baby was like a fish when born!

A baby was born in Maharashtra with a rarity. At Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Government Hospital in Ambajogai in Maharashtra earlier today, a baby was born with fused legs and the hands spread like fins. Alas, it died 15 minutes later.T he baby’s mother Diksha kamble(25) was admitted in the hospital at 7:00 AM today. On birth the infant weighed 1.8kg. The baby’s upper body was functional and the lower body not developed. The infant’s gender was unclear due to the fusion of the lower extremities.

Doctors made it clear that the baby was affected by Sirenomelia or Mermaid’s Syndrome. It is a rare congenital developmental disease characterized by the anomalies of the spine and lower limbs. The infants who get affected are born with a partial or complete fusion of the legs. This disease is life threatening as its marked by rotation and fusion of sufferer’s legs.
