Indias’ new Deputy National Security Advisor is Pankaj Saran

The Personnel Ministry order said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had approved the appointment of the senior diplomat Pankaj Saran as the Deputy NSA for a period of two years, initially on deputation basis till the date of his superannuation, that is, November 30, 2108, then on re-employment on the contract basis. Pankaj Saran is currently serving as the Indian Ambassador to Russia.

A 1982 batch IFS officer he was appointed as the Indian envoy to Russia in November 2015. He had also served as the country’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Between 2007-2012, he worked as the Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Now it’s his chance to assist the vibrant NSA Ajit Doval.
