J&K school teacher brutally thrashed student with a cane and hangs upside down

A student has been hanged upside down and his teacher has brutally beat him with a cane. The 10-years-old student was thrashed at a Madrassa in Baramulla. Later, the Baramulla police have taken action and detained the teacher.

The teacher has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed from Iqbal Colony and he had been teaching at the local Madrassa for some time now. Earlier, there were complaints raised against him but they were denied and no action was taken against the convicted. It is evident that many such cases may have gone unreported due to the carelessness of the institution.

After the video began to go viral, widespread criticism and condemnation were seen against such institutions. The viewers demanded an exemplary punishment from the teacher. The student was punished in front of his whole class and the reason was not clarified. Parents, guardians and teachers may face a maximum of five years in jail for beating a child, verbally abusing or for any other form of corporal punishment.
