Trump says US-North Korea summit is back on June 12

A week after its scrapping, the much awaited US-North Korea summit would be back on June 12, said the American President. Trump made the announcement after a meeting with the North-Korean envoy General Kim Yong-Chol who also delivered a letter from North-Korean ruler Kim Jong Un to Trump. Though Trump said that the letter was “interesting”, he said later that he had not opened it. The 1950-53 Korean war would be given an official ending through a Final Peace Treaty. As of now, only a truce has been made in this regard.

Trump told the reporters on the White House Lawn that they(He and Kim) would be meeting on June 12th in Singapore and it(meeting with the convoy) went well. He added,”We’ve got to know their people very well”.

Mr.Trump clarified that on the first meeting itself a final deal on North Korea’s nuclear programme might not be made and that it would not end with one meeting. He said that it was going to be a process but the relationships were building and that was very positive.
The scheduled meeting on June 12 is the first of its kind between an American and North Korean leaders. Prez Trump had made an offer to help North Korea economically if it scrapped its nuclear weapons. Though North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un reiterated his commitment towards “denuclearisation” no precise demands were made by him.
