Dr Kafeel Khan : BJP MP behind attack on my brother

Dr Kafeel Khan who has been recently in the news admitting his willingness to serve Nipah victims in Kerala lashed out at a BJP lawmaker whom he alleged to be behind his brother Kashif Jamal’s attack. Kafeel Khan was jailed in a case of death of 63 children at Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College, and on Sunday he alleged that BJP MP from Bansgaon, Kamlesh Paswan was behind the attack on his brother.

The doctor claimed that Kamlesh Paswan along with a plaza owner in Gorakhpur named Satish Nanglia plotted the attack on Kafil Khan, his brother, solely to occupy a land belonging to his maternal uncle. An FIR had been registered regarding the land grab issue earlier.

Kamlesh Paswan, however, termed Kafeel Khan’s allegations as “baseless” and said that he was trying to get a ‘political mileage’ through these type of allegations.

As per the Police reports, Kashif Jamal, Dr Kafeel Khan’s brother was shot at by some unidentified bikers near JP Hospital in Gorakhpur on June 10 after which he was rushed to a private nursing home. Then he was transferred from there to the trauma centre of King George Medical University in Lucknow.

He had sustained bullet wounds on his right upper arm, neck and chin.

Dr.Kafeel Khan made a tweet a day after which read,”Allah rahem kare. I’m not going to bend.”

Gorakhpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police Shalabh Matur said on June 11 that a case had been registered against unidentified persons and that the police were investigating all possible aspects.

An incident at the Raghav Das Medical college in which children died caused the removal of Kafeel Khan from the nodal officer position of the 100 bed AES ward in the hospital. He was later arrested by the UP police in September 2017 for criminal negligence and liability in the case.

More than 68 children died at Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur, which drew flak from different quarters to the Yogi Aditya Nath Govt. over the poor health care system in UP hospitals. Later, Kafeel Khan along with 8 others was arrested and there were allegations that Kafeel Khan had been framed in the case. Some quarters portray Kafeel as the one who tried to save the kids by getting Oxygen cylinders out of his own money as the Oxygen Cylinder supply company did not provide the cylinders due to the hospital’s unpaid dues. The children allegedly died of lack of oxygen supply and the official version was that they died of encephalitis.

Anyhow, Dr kafeel Khan was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in April this year.
