OMG, Its Real! Facebook to Shut Down these Apps

Facebook is planning to shut down three apps and before you ask if facebook messenger made the list, let me assure you that it is in no danger. Messenger remains one of the most used apps and the apps are going to be shut down now because of low usage. The three apps that you will soon bid goodbye are Moves, tbh and Hello.

Facebook launched Hello in 2015 for people using Android in Brazil, the US and Nigeria. It enables people to combine information from Facebook with contact information on their phone. In essence, the app was similar to TrueCaller, a popular app which finds contact details globally when given a name or telephone number. Facebook will be deprecating Hello in a few weeks.

In 2014, Facebook bought the fitness app Moves. It records daily activity — including walking, cycling and running. It is deprecating the Moves app and Moves API on July 31. At the end of the day, Moves displays all of the relevant data that it has collected. That includes the number of steps taken, the distance travelled, where you’ve been, and even your schedule – all of it can be viewed on a map.

Facebook acquired tbh in 2017. It’s an anonymous social media app for high school students in the US. The app was regularly updated and new features were added but it failed to achieve the success it was intended to.

The company said it will delete the user data associated with the apps within 90 days of discontinuing them.
