Now Police tighten their grip over GNPC;Various charges including hate speech

The secret Facebook group with a whooping membership of about 1.8 million people after getting booked by the Excise Department now has been charged by the Kerala Police. The Police have seriously interfered into the working of the group after it received complaints of child rights violation and the violation of cyber laws by the page. On the recommendation received from the Excise Department, a Police investigation has been started against the page under the leadership of Narcotic Cell DYSP of the city police.

The Excise had taken a case against the Admins of the page for promoting  alcoholism.T.L.Ajith Kumar and his wife Vineetha, who were the admins of the page, had been booked by the Excise under the section 55-I. The unbailable section was put on them as it had been found that the couple illegally sold liquor.

The Police will take cases against Ajith for promoting religious hatred, consuming alcohol before minors and for hosting a ticketed liquor party. Apart from Ajith Kumar and his wife, the other 36 admins of the page will also be booked under the law. The first accused -Ajith Kumar and Vineetha-are under exile and the investigation is progressing to nab them.

GNPC had been started by the couple to spread the information of new brand of liquors, to teach how to drink it and to show about the best food to be taken along with the drink. All of those happened while the government had been on a statewide conscientization programme against all type of intoxications. The members of the GNPC group had got discounts and other perks from various bars in the state.
