A woman in China who hoped to make some traditional snake wine used as a medicine, unfortunately, got a bitter taste her effort even before she could make it, costing her life. To make the wine she had ordered a Krait snake from a shopping portal. She was bitten by the venomous snake and died eight days later.

A krait is a highly venomous snake and the 21-year old had ordered it online from a seller in the southern province of Guangdong. The area is known for this venomous reptile and she bought it from an e-commerce platform called Zhuanzhuan. The snake was delivered by a local courier company without knowing what is there in the box.

The girl’s mother told Xinhua news agency, the girl had planned to make traditional medicinal wine with the snake. The snake wine is made by infusing whole snakes in alcohol. The beverage is said to be a healthy drink. According to the media reports, the snake managed to escape but forest officials found it near the woman’s house.
