The death toll of New Zealand’s White Island volcano rose to 21 as one of the injured died at an Auckland hospital on Wednesday.
The December 9 volcanic eruption was almost abrupt when 47 people mostly Australian tourists were on the Island. The eruption sprayed burning ash, red hot lava, and steam which fatally injured the assembled tourists.
Nineteen of the injured died in New Zealand hospitals and two in Australia.
