BCCI announces ‘Team India’ for South Africa tour, India gets new ODI skipper

Mumbai: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the upcoming South African Tour. BCCI named Rohit Sharma as the captain of the ODI and T20I teams. He will also be the vice-captain of the Test team. Ajinkya Rahane has been named as the vice-captain of ODI and T20I teams.

The BCCI selection committee headed by former Indian cricketer Chetan Sharma has selected the 18-member squad.

India’s Test squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Md. Siraj.

Standby Players: Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Arzan Nagwaswalla.

1st Test (December 26-30): Centurion

2nd Test (January 03-07): Johannesburg

3rd Test (January 11-15): Cape Town

1st ODI (January 19): Paarl

2nd ODI (January 21): Paarl

3rd ODI (January 23): Cape Town
