The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 6.1 magnitude earthquake near Afghanistan and Pakistan in the early hours of Wednesday. According to the USGS, the quake hit roughly 44 kilometres (27 miles) from the city of Khost in southern Afghanistan and was 51 kilometres deep. So yet, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), around 119 million people in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India felt shaking across a 500-kilometer radius. A minor earthquake shook Islamabad and other regions of Pakistan, according to Pakistani news outlets.
‘Massive EARTHQUAKE in Islamabad! Allah khair! I hope you’re all safe! Allah Taala, please protect us all. Amen,’ remarked one Pakistani Twitter user. Tremors were also felt in Lahore, Multan, Quetta, and other parts of Pakistan.
According to the Namal, the earthquake was felt for a few seconds and drove people fleeing into the streets. There was no recorded loss of life or property. A 5.0 magnitude earthquake rattled numerous Pakistani towns on Friday, including Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Multan. According to Geo News, the shocks were also recorded in Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Kohat, and Malakand.
