India to Restart some Visa Services for Canadians

After a recent temporary closure of visa services amid tensions resulting from a dispute over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, India has decided to resume some of its visa services for Canadians. In an official statement issued by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, it was announced on Wednesday that visa services would be reinstated, effective from October 26. The decision to resume services was based on a comprehensive assessment of the security situation, taking into account recent measures implemented by the Canadian government. The statement further noted that any additional decisions would be made in line with an ongoing evaluation of the situation.

The resumption of visa services by India encompasses entry visas, business visas, medical visas, and conference visas. This development follows Canada’s decision to withdraw 41 of its envoys, in response to the Indian government’s request for diplomatic parity.
