Lotus to launch Emira sportscar in India: Details

Mumbai: British sportscar brand, Lotus will launch its Emira sportscar in India. The car will be launched next year in India. Lotus hasn’t commented on the pricing of the Emira but it is likely to fall around the Rs 2 crore mark (ex-showroom).

The Lotus Emira is powered by  two engines – a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 and a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor. Power output stands at 365bhp for the 2.0-litre engine and 405bhp for the V6. Both variants are RWD but while the 2.0-litre motor comes with a DCT the V6 can be paired with a manual and an automatic transmission.

A sprint from 0 to 100kmph takes 4.5 seconds for the smaller engine while the V6 dispatches the same in a bit over 4 seconds. The Emira comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment display running smartphone integration as standard, a 12.3-inch instrument display,  10-speaker KEF audio system, 12-way adjustable sports seats, cruise control, automatic climate control and ADAS features.

Earlier the brand launched its all-electric Eletre SUV in India. The Eletre was introduced by Exclusive Motors of New Delhi. The SUV is offered in three versions – Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R –priced at Rs 2.55 crore, Rs 2.75 crore and Rs 2.99 crore, respectively (all ex-showroom pan-India)..

The India-spec model rides on standard 22-inch, 10-spoke forged wheels. The Eletre incorporates aerodynamic like vents on the bonnet, behind the front and rear wheel arches, and atop the D-pillar.The vehicle comes with a 15.1-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, running on the innovative ‘Lotus Hyper OS.’ The Eletre offers six interior themes. Standard features include wireless charging, adjustable front seats, climate control, a premium sound system, ambient lighting, and advanced driver assistance features.

The Eletre R claims the title of the world’s fastest production electric SUV with a top speed of 258kph. There are two powertrains – a 603bhp dual-motor setup offered with the Eletre and Eletre S and a 905bhp dual-motor setup offered with the Eletre R. Torque stands at 710Nm and 985Nm. The Eletre R can dispatch 0 to 100kmph in just 2.95 seconds while the other two take 4.5 seconds for the sprint. A 112kWh battery is standard on all the three variants of the SUV which gives the Eletre R a range of 490km according to WLTP and the other two a range of 600km according to WLTP.
