ASI Requests 15-Day Extension from Varanasi Court for Gyanvapi Mosque Survey Report Submission.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has formally requested a 15-day extension from the Varanasi court for the submission of its report on the scientific survey conducted at the Gyanvapi mosque complex. Amit Srivastava, the counsel representing the Centre, conveyed that the ASI has filed an application with Varanasi District Judge A K Vishvesh. Srivastava explained that while the survey work is complete, the technical reports are pending, prompting the need for additional time.

As per Srivastava, the court is scheduled to review the matter later in the day. This development comes after the ASI informed the court on November 2 that the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex had been “completed.” However, compiling the report, along with details of the survey equipment used, requires additional time. The court had previously granted an extension until November 17 for the document’s submission.

It is worth noting that on October 5, the court had initially allowed a four-week extension for the ASI’s survey, emphasizing that no further extensions would be granted beyond this period.
