The Pulpalli Police in Wayanad has apprehended 60-year-old Babu from APJ Nagar, Sasimala, in connection with the mysterious death of his wife, 55-year-old Ammini.
Ammini’s lifeless body bore marks of beatings when discovered in the early hours of Friday, prompting the registration of a case of unnatural death.
Babu reportedly called his son Biju around 2:30 am, alerting him to Ammini’s deteriorating health. Upon arriving at the house, Biju sadly found his mother deceased.
Neighbours reported hearing the couple quarrel at night but chose not to intervene. Babu’s alleged daily arrival in an inebriated state was noted by those in the vicinity.
A police team, led by Inspector A Ananthakrishnan and sub-inspector CR Manoj, conducted the inquest. Ananthakrishnan expressed suspicion that Ammini might have been killed during a brawl, accounting for the injuries on her body. The post-mortem report is awaited for further insights.
