Gulf country announces two long weekend holidays

Kuwait City: Kuwait has announced dates for two long weekend holidays. A Kuwait daily has reported this citing unnamed sources.

As per reports,  dates had been confirmed for the occasions of Isra and Mi’raj, National Day and Liberation Day. The holidays will  fall in February 2024 and result in two long weekends during the month.

Officials have set Thursday, February 8 as the date of a public holiday for Isra and Mi’raj. With Kuwait having a Friday and Saturday weekend, this means people in the country will have a three-day weekend from February 8 to February 10, before returning to work on Sunday, February 11.

National Day and Liberation Day holidays are planned for Sunday, February 25 and Monday, February 26. Taking into account the preceding weekend, people in Kuwait can look forward to a four-day weekend from Friday, February 23 to Monday, February 26 before returning to work on the Tuesday.

Kuwait has previously announced Sunday, December 31 and Monday, January 1 as public holidays marking the occasion of the New Year. The decision was taken during a weekly cabinet weekly meeting, presided over by the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, citing a Civil Service Commission notice.
